Activated Alumina catalyst carriers can be made according to customers' needs.The catalyst carriers could be produced in various morphology,strength,crystalline shape,specific surface area,pore volume,pore size distribution,surface acid and base strength. Such as spherical,columnar and ball shaped,with strength 10-200 N/pc.The crystalline form is divided into alumina trihydrate,alumina hydrate,ρ-AL₂O₃,α- AL₂O₃,γ -AL₂O₃,x- AL₂O₃,.The specific surface area and pore volume can reach up to 350 m²/g and 0.7 cm³/g.

Application of Activated Alumina catalyst carriers
It is widely used in the production of catalysts by iso-impregnation and over-impregnation methods.
The precious metals loaded on it such as gold,silver,platinum,palladium,rhodium,iridium,and the transition metals iron,manganese, copper,zinc,etc.can be highly dispersed on the carriers.
Activated alumina catalyst carriers are white powder or formed alumina solid,which is the most widely used catalyst carriers. Strip and spherical alumina are mostly used as catalyst carriers in fixed bed reactor and microsphere alumina carriers is mostly used in fluidized bed reactor.It can also be made into special-shaped carriers required for specific catalytic processes,such as columnar,clover,honeycomb, etc.

1. Q: What is the specific surface area of your Activated Alumina catalyst carriers? How is the pore size distribution?
A: The specific surface area of our conventional γ-type activated alumina carriers is usually within the range of 280–350 m²/g. It can be customized according to customer requirements (for example, the specific surface area can reach over 380 m²/g). The pore size distribution is concentrated at 5–15 nm (with mesopores as the main component), which is suitable for the high dispersion loading of most metal active components (such as Ni, Co, Mo, Pt, etc.). For large molecule reactions (such as hydrofining of heavy oil), we can provide expanded-pore products (with pore diameters of 15–30 nm). We can provide you BET test report if you need
2. Q: What is the compressive strength? Will it powder during loading or operation?
A: The single particle compressive strength of our spherical activated alumina carriers ≥ 80 N/gram (for Φ3–5mm specifications), and the radial crush strength of the strip products ≥ 150 N/cm. This is much higher than the industry standard (HG/T 3927 requires ≥ 60 N/gram). With the optimized molding and firing process, the particles are dense and wear-resistant. They have been continuously operating in large-scale refineries for over 3 years without obvious powdering.
3. Q: Will it phase transform and deactivate at high temperatures? What is the maximum temperature it can be used at?
A: The standard γ-Al₂O₃ activated Alumina catalyst carriers can be used stably at ≤ 600℃. If the operating temperature exceeds 650℃, we recommend using heat-stable modified activated alumina (doped with La, Si, etc.), which can raise the onset temperature of phase transformation to above 800℃, effectively inhibiting the decline of specific surface area. Some customers have successfully applied it in the bypass system of catalytic cracking regenerators.
