Pyromellitic Dianhydride (PMDA) is an important organic chemical intermediate with the molecular formula C₁₀H₄O₆. The pure product is a white or slightly yellow crystal. When exposed to moist air, it rapidly absorbs moisture and hydrolyzes into pyromellitic acid.

PMDA is primarily used as a raw material for polyimide production, as a curing and polishing agent for epoxy resin, and as a crosslinking agent for polyester resin.
PMDA is also employed in the manufacture of polyimide films, polyimide resins, powder coating matte agents, and advanced electrical insulation materials.
Additionally, it is used to produce polyimide resins, high-temperature-resistant electrical insulating paints, PVC plasticizers, synthetic resin crosslinking agents, and epoxy resin curing agents. It is also used in the production of phthalocyanine blue dye, among other applications.
