Product performance
Brominated polystyrene-polybutadiene tri-block polymer (Brominated SBS) is a new environmentally friendly brominated flame retardant.
It has good thermal stability. Research shows that under conditions such as melt blending, injection molding, and extrusion foaming, it exhibits minimal thermal degradation. The process temperature can exceed 230℃.
In addition to thermal stability, the polymer used in this product has good compatibility with the foaming agents employed in foaming processes.
The flame retardancy of Br-SBS is comparable to that of hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD), but it poses significantly less environmental harm, making it an eco-friendly macromolecular flame retardant.

Product Application

Flame Retardant Applications:
XPS and EPS Foams: SBS bromide is added to these foams to enhance their flame retardant properties, meeting the fire safety requirements for insulation materials in the construction industry.
Polystyrene Plastics: Beyond foam materials, SBS bromide can also be used in non-foamed polystyrene plastic products to improve their fire resistance.
As an alternative to hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD), SBS bromide has gained attention for its lower bioaccumulation potential and greater environmental stability.
SBS bromide's high molecular weight and stable structure enable it to remain stable in high-temperature and chemically challenging environments, making it ideal for applications requiring prolonged exposure to harsh conditions.
Product Packaging & Storage

Packaging:

FAQ
Q: What is SBS bromide, and what is its chemical structure?
A: SBS bromide is a modified polymer created by introducing bromine into the styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer (SBS). This modification enhances the original properties of SBS, providing excellent flame retardancy and solubility. Its molecular structure comprises styrene and butadiene units, with bromination improving its performance.
Q: In which solvents is SBS bromide soluble? How stable is it in air?
A: SBS bromide is highly soluble in various organic solvents, including ethers, ketones, and alcohols. It is relatively stable in air, exhibiting low volatility.
Q: How does Brominated SBS as a flame retardant, and in what materials is it used?
A: It is an effective flame retardant, particularly as a polymeric flame retardant (PolyFR), due to its large molecular weight and eco-friendly characteristics. It enhances the flame resistance of materials such as epoxy asphalt adhesives and serves as a flame retardant additive in polyurethane, polystyrene, and similar materials.
