The performance advantages of phthalic anhydride polyester polyols mainly manifest in the following four aspects.
Heat resistance: The benzene ring structure raises the thermal deformation temperature of the foam material to above 180℃, making it suitable for use in building insulation layers in high-temperature environments .
Flame retardancy: During combustion, it promotes the formation of a carbonization layer, with an oxygen index reaching 28%-32%, meeting the B1-level flame retardant standard .
Mechanical properties: The tensile strength is 20%-40% higher than that of the ordinary polyether system, and the cell structure is finer and more uniform.
Process compatibility: It has good compatibility with the polyisocyanurate (PIR) system, reducing the catalyst dosage by 30%-50% .
Phthalic anhydride polyester polyol is particularly suitable for polyisocyanurate (PIR) foams. These foams contain a large number of benzene rings, which not only enhance the heat resistance of the foam but also improve the flame retardancy of the products. Both at home and abroad, phthalic anhydride polyester polyol is widely used in the production of sandwich foam panels for construction and on-site spraying in the construction industry. This polyurethane rigid foam containing polyester not only has the basic properties of polyether-type polyurethane rigid foam but also has the advantages of fine foam, good toughness, excellent flame retardancy, and low price. Phthalic anhydride polyester polyol contains a large number of primary hydroxyl groups, has high activity, can be applied at low temperatures, and can also reduce the amount of catalyst.
