What is polyester polyol?

Leave a message

Polyester polyols include conventional polyester polyols, polycaprolactone polyols, and polycarbonate diols. They contain ester groups or carbonate groups. However, the polyester polyols usually referred to are those produced through condensation reactions of diols and diacids.

Polyester Polyols for Case

Polyester polyols are one of the main raw materials for polyester-based polyurethanes. Depending on whether they contain benzene rings, they can be classified as aliphatic polyols and aromatic polyols. The polyester polyols used in rigid polyurethane foam plastics are mostly aromatic polyester polyols. The most commonly used polyester polyols for elastic polyurethane materials are obtained by the condensation reaction of adipic acid and ethylene glycol, and a small amount of triols such as trimethylolpropane can be added to replace part of the diols to obtain a slightly branched polyester with a relative molecular mass of about 2000. The polyester polyols used in soft foam are linear or slightly branched end-hydroxylated saturated polyester with a relatively lower molecular weight. Different varieties of polyester polyols have different properties due to their different types or production processes. The important indicators for polyester polyols include hydroxyl value, acid value, moisture content, viscosity, molecular weight, density, and color.
